TN to award contract for phase-II of Chennai ORR

To construct phase-II of Chennai Outer Ring Road, from Nemilichery to Minjur, the Tamil Nadu government has recently given its nod to a consortium of Ashoka Buildcon and GVR Infra Projects. Work on phase-I of the ORR, from Vandalur to Nemilichery, is nearing completion. On completion, the 61.65-km-long road will form a semicircle around the city and help decongest Chennai?s roads. It will act as a major link and connect four national highways ? NH 4, NH 5, NH 45 and NH 205.

Thirumangalam flyover in Chennai to open in 3 months

In Chennai, completion of the Thirumangalam flyover is further delayed. It was to be opened by April, but now it has a new deadline for completion ? September. Work was delayed by land acquisition and lack of cooperation between government agencies. The flyover on Inner Ring Road will go over the junction of Anna Nagar 2nd Avenue and Mogappair Road, and will speed up travel for commuters from Koyambedu, Ambattur, Red Hills and Avadi.

Ashoka-GVR Infra team bags Chennai ORR project

The Chennai Outer Ring Road Phase II project, costing Rs 985.44 crore, has been bagged by a consortium of Ashoka Buildcon and GVR Infra Projects. The Tamil Nadu government had earmarked Rs 1,075 crore for the project, which will decongest Chennai roads. The 62-km ORR project links the peripheral areas of the city from Vandalur in the south, about 25 km from Chennai on NH 45, to Minjur to the north of Chennai.

SMC to declare TP schemes

Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) will soon declare the town planning (TP) schemes for developing the area along the stretch of the Outer Ring Road in the city. Following this, the civic body will consult the developers and land owners for this project.

Nashik's civic body to take up road works on its own

The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has decided to take up the work on the first ring road under its jurisdiction. The civic body has decided to the start the process of inviting tenders on its own and the actual work is expected to begin after the monsoon. The project will be executed under the deferred payment scheme due to paucity of funds.

T'puram to launch work on ring roads

The Trivandrum Development Authority (TRIDA) has decided to go ahead with the second phase of the Capital Region Development plan, providing outer ring roads to the city. The Kerala government is only in the final stages of selecting a transaction advisor for the plan. The empowered committee headed by the Chief Secretary is in the process of shortlisting the advisor for preparing a detailed project report, Chairman of the Authority PK Venugopal said.

TN proposes ring road for Salem to cut accidents

The Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Sarvey Satyanarayana has said that to check the number of accidents in Salem city, a proposal to build a ring road, about 60 km long, has been made by the Tamil Nadu government.

MMRDA to spend Rs 622 cr on road infra in Thane dist

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) will spend Rs 622 crore on the extended Mumbai urban infrastructure projects, mainly in Thane district. It will build six flyovers, a creek-bridge at Vasai between Naigaon and Bhayendar and over 90-km of road network in Vasai, Thane, Kalyan, Dombivli, Ambernath, Karjat , Badlapur and Arnala.

Now, Delhi to have one-legged elevated roads

In a first, 24.2 metre-wide elevated roads will be constructed in Delhi on a single narrow column using the single-pier technique. In this, six lanes of traffic will move on top, while four lanes will be open at the ground level as well. These elevated flyways are being built on outer Ring Road and Ring Road, and will help avoid traffic congestion at the ground level, say officials.

IDA's plea to State govt to reconsider LIG link road width

Unable to get sufficient land and remove encroachments coming in the way of proposed LIG link road, Indore Development Authority (IDA) has once again sent a request to the Madhya Pradesh government for reconsidering to keep width of road to 18 metre against 24 metre as proposed in the master plan.
